Working with Women

Children of Africa

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a single mother who lives among the poorest of the poor with her four children in a home made of cardboard and rice sacks. In Africa it is very difficult for a woman to find any piecework (employment) to provide food for her family. Africa Is Life Changing seeing the plight of this woman offered her an opportunity to work beside a co-op of champion women in our chicken project. With Elizabeth beside us, we built a chicken coop for 100 chickens. What defines a champion was exhibited in Elizabeth by her daily dedication to working hard, and her commitment to even sleep with the chickens for their protection. After the chickens started laying eggs, Elizabeth approached us one day and said, "I never supposed that the bird could bring me so much hope. I now have security for my family, and my children can eat an egg two days a week on Tuesday and Saturday.”

Chickens

The power of the chicken in Africa can change the face of an entire family. For just $10 a chicken, we can build its house and feed the chick for 6 months till it starts to lay eggs. Elizabeth is only one of hundreds of women and children that stand in the shadows waiting for such an opportunity to become self-reliant.

Come join us and help achieve these goals.
