Chicks for Africa

“I will always be involved in this organization because the people there changed my life. I have increased my gratitude for my own abundance in every aspect of my life. I cannot go to the store and buy a gallon of milk without thinking that the $3.00 I so freely spend on milk is two days wages for a person in Africa…. They appreciate everything they have which is not much…. I will never be the same. I will never see the sunshine, or a glass of milk, or clear water, or a smile, or a song, or feel the joy in my own heart the same.”

The women and children hunger for your love and acceptance. They are shy to start off with but as they feel your love they too will give love back to you. They show their love with their hands, smiles and in song. This is a priceless gift you will never forget… They will teach you so much more than you can imagine. They taught me, by their actions, love, patience, hard work and gratitude and much more. They live a very simple life and constantly praise Jesus and thank Jesus for what little they have. My life has been changed for the better because of my experiences in Africa. I wonder who gained the most.......I think I did.

I can’t explain to people what an incredible experience it was going to Africa!! I would have never imagined how life changing 2 weeks in a different country can be! I can apply what I have learned, to life here, and see how important it is to reach out to people everywhere. Everyone needs to be loved and smiled at. I have fallen in love with the African people and culture! I know I am going back someday. It is incredible how just one person can make a difference to the people around them. I know what I want to do in my life now. And I know how I want to live. I am so grateful to make a difference everyday!

One of the main lessons that I learned from my first trip to Africa (my first of hopefully many), is that Happiness is a Choice. After seeing so many beautiful, smiling, Kenyan faces, who have every reason to be downtrodden, what possible reason would I ever have to not be joyous over the abundance God has blessed me with. The people of Kenya have changed the way I view my life and the world. I thank God everyday for that blessing.

Spaces still available for our next expeditions planned in May 2010, and October 2010.
