Our work in Africa
Our mission is to nurture the value of women and children and Africa Is Life Changing places a high value on who they are. When one nurtures the value of an individual, they find that they have worth even in a world that places little importance in them. AILC values the privilege of empowering women and children with respect, honor and dignity.
Working with Women
Women are key to the development and success of the outreach programs provided by AILC. To support one woman in Africa often means to help many at once. Research in humanitarian aid has demonstrated that the greatest positive impact is created when assistance is given to underprivileged women. Women are far more likely to use donated goods, education and funds to support themselves and their children.
Working with Children
In Africa, millions of children continue to be orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. For many of these children, even the basic necessities of life are not met. Many of these children live their lives on the street and become vulnerable to those that would prey upon their innocence. Still others are taken in by elderly grandparents that are often found supporting not only themselves but several other children at once.
HIV & AIDS
Being taught the truth about AIDS is an important educational opportunity for many children and women in Africa. As myths are replaced with facts, it gives those that have been ostracize from society a place to belong once again. Those that have been educated now understand and teach others the truth about AIDS. Education is the key to unlocking the doors of ignorance and ushering in LIFE.
