HIV/AIDS

Education
The many faces of AIDS in Africa leaves countless families on the brink of daily despair. Africa Is Life Changing brings a simple value based AIDS program into the classroom. Our purpose is to teach the truth about HIV/AIDS and offer strength and hope to those affected. In classrooms across Africa, we have encountered primary and secondary children that simply need to know the facts about AIDS. As we enter into the classroom, we teach that they have value, they have freedom to choose, chastity is a commandment of God and we need to help one another.

Envision with me for a moment standing before a classroom filled with 50-60 girls teaching them the simple facts about HIV/AIDS, and that they have individual worth. After we teach them these simple facts, we role play with them. We ask a young girl to come to the front of the room and ask them what they would do if a young boy came up and tried to offend them. They often look at us with blank stares. We teach them to say 5 simple words DO NOT TOUCH MY BODY. At first the girl’s words are barely audible, and her head is tipped to the floor. Each time we ask her to say it again she is empowered with a much louder voice. By the end of our lesson they are shouting DO NOT TOUCH MY BODY. It is something many of these girls have never supposed they could say. Will the words alone prevent AIDS? No not in its entirety, but it gives one girl in one village in Africa the self worth to know that she can shout for her life. If one girl can have this outcry, it gives hope that another will surely follow.
Come join us and help achieve these goals.
